L is for Lalala

04/14/2011

LALALA we will have some fun today for I am bringing you the L of poetry — LIMERICK!

I only learned about Limerick last month after more than 3 decades of existence here on earth!  Thanks to Madeleine where I stumbled upon it!

What is a Limerick?

A limerick (is):

  1. is five lines long,
  2. is based on the rhythm “da-da-DAH” (anapest meter)
  3. has two different rhymes.
  4. Lines 1, 2, and 5 have three of those da-da-DAH “feet,” and rhyme with each other.
  5. Lines 3 and 4 have two, and rhyme with each other.
So the basic form is:

da da DAH / da da DAH / da da BING
da da DAH / da da DAH / da da DING
da da DAH / da da BAM
da da DAH / da da WHAM
da da DAH / da da DAH / da da PING

I understand the rhyme but I don’t totally understand the rhythm. I go duh! But then that won’t stop me from trying and shaming myself because it’s fun! Anyone who wants to teach me and correct my 3 Limerick attempts is most welcome and appreciated — have mercy, teach me please!

Now here are the 3 Limericks.

( 1)
A woman is hysterical
Her man turned into a jackal,
How come when they vowed
No hurting allowed,
Love is no longer magical.

(2)
The man jumped out of the window
Good that the house is bungalow,
The cat laughed out loud
Oh what a coward,
He’s afraid of his own shadow!

(3)
Today I decided to be happy
I won’t snap on anybody,
Lalala good day
It is our payday,
Can I have pie and green tea frappe?

Now enter the fun part. In the comment please come up with your own Limerick using any of the 1st line of the 3 Limericks. Please try, please please please! And enjoy!

We’re not yet done with LALALA because I am sharing with you a very special award from Luna — Luna’s Soul Award 2011! If you have not yet met Luna please check my J is for Jejune post. You will respect this woman with a beautiful soul.

April Full it will be for I am joining Arlee’s A to Z Blogging Challenge! I will be posting daily for each letter of the alphabet except on Sundays. It is an s.t.r.e.t.c.h for me but I just would like to have some fun! Come join me in here or join the challenge too for the whole month of April!

Now let’s bring that A word — AGELAST which means someone who never laughs.

Uhuh don’t you think there is something wrong with that word? Shouldn’t it be Agefast? Without laughter we will age fast!

Laughter can make our heart and soul stay young. Yes it is the best anti-ageing medicine.

Laughter is a gift. Yes we can give one.

Laughter is salvation. Yes we can save someone’s day.

Laughter is an expression of happiness. Yes we can be happy, with an attitude of gratitude.

Yes our heart and soul can be happy because God gave us a gift of salvation!

Now please let me share with you an A word to be happy about — AWARD. I got another Perfect Poet Award! How can I not be happy with that? Thank you so much Jingle and Luna! Can I give both of you a Superperfect Poet Award?

Thank you too to everyone who smiled and appreciated my week 40 entry                 — The Popcorn in Us.

For week 41,  I would like to nominate Moonlight and Dreamz for her powerful poem Earthquake. I hope she is happy!

Look how cutesy the Perfect Poet Award of week 40!

Spring back to life

Cast spells with your magic wand

Agelast, make them laugh!

Shall we now disperse cheer and laughter?  Even God has a sense of humor else how could this big butt, flat nosed and thick skinned creature came to life? Of course I am not talking about myself but the hippopotamus!

Awesome day to everyone! There won’t be BYE today because letter B is for tomorrow!

🙂

How lucky could I get? Well, I am nominated for the Stylish Blogger Award by a very talented and stylish woman — Linda Lewis of Lulu’s Musings!

Want to eat in style? Check her special table settings!

Want to wear stylish handmade and handwoven? Check her Designs Gallery!

Want to be in style? Check her lovely hair and smile!

Now back to why I am stylish, I’m confused too because I consider myself as styleless, not stylish!

But hey, a nomination is a nomination so I’m accepting it oh so graciously!

With the acceptance of the nomination I am supposed to share 7 things about myself so here they are.

styleless

1. My sole’s best friend is a flat glittered red crocs shoes. And my soul’s best friend is God!

2. I love stones and I wear beach stones earrings. Never mind if they’re not of the same shape!

3. I make bottle caps necklaces for my kiddos.  And mine too!

4. I enjoy pun and we paint it in canvass bags. And proudly use it!

5. My non-living best friends are books. It can deliver a sermon without hurting me!

6. I love smelling my hubby and kiddos’ armpits. One of the miracles of love!

7. My heart smiles on things that others consider ordinary or of no value. Drift woods, bended spoons, colored pens make me oh so happy!

So there’s my 7!  And Oh yes, I am not forgetting my 2 nominees, my 2 stylish and fantastic blog friends — drum roll please!

1. Max. My dog friend over at Creativity to the Max. It has dyed its hair purple and owns an equally stylish human named Judy! Max can you squeal one of your human’s life secrets?

2.  Alan. You remember the commercial of Oreo cookies where the big bro dunk the cookie in the glass of milk and the kiddo used a sippy cup? He was behind it! Alan, what’s your role in there again? Come on tell us while I chow my Oreo and savor the nomination!

And I am nominating everyone for best in smile!  You deserve the best smile so run to the mirror now!

🙂

Hello, Rea here!

I personally believe that our name has a meaning aptly for who we are. And the good news is we can actually create that meaning especially for us — as much as we create our own life. Through the years I tried to understand who I am and it does change depending on what state I am at that moment. There were so many versions of me already and here are some.

On the first job Rea was

R-easonably

E-ffective and efficient

A-s well as a good learner

On living — again!

R-ising from the ashes

E-mpowering herself

A-cting really really strange

The latest as of this entry — hey I may be updated after hitting publish!

R-eveling in ordinarily awesome moments

E-ntrusting God with my life

A-cknowledging my brokenness

Why am I sharing the trivialities of REA?

Because this is a fun way to reacquaint with oneself!

Try it, the acronym thingy — share yourself here in the comment.

I know you have much to say about yourself so do it in paragraph for each letter!

It’s an honor to know you actually!

🙂

The Popcorn in Us

11/14/2010

'Go out on a limb'

Bear the heat

and expand

pop pop pop!

Let the ideas out,

plain or flavored hot.

pop pop pop!

Chew it and have some fun

like how you deal with some.

pop pop pop!

Identical popcorns, found one?

We’re one of a kind that’s why.

pop pop pop!

Ready the popcorn

for the movie of our lives.

pop pop pop!

How’s the movie show?

Plain? Salted? Buttered?

pop pop pop!

🙂

WARNING: There are treasures in between the  lines so, don’t miss a word! And yes, you can share your found treasures in the comment because it’s not all tangible, right? And sometimes it really is — tangible.

Smile, you're a STAR!

It’s my 4th month anniversary in blogging!

What’s special with 4?

Hmm nothing. I just want to celebrate my craziness!

4MONTHS OF REALIZATION

1. Everyone has a degree of AWESOMENESS! Some resonates with you; some don’t and it’s all okay.

2. I love the community in here who honors the differences and finds time to appreciate! Yes that’s YOU!

3. I started loving my crazy self again! Yes this is actually part of my journey with HIM!

4. IT’S OK TO ASK FOR HELP! Give others the opportunity to help because I believe everyone wants to if they can. You all helped me actually regardless if I asked from you directly or not. Who helped me use the link? Who helped me with the changes in here? Who helped me with some of my posts via the idea that came up through comments, your own posts and yes your photos! Who helped me see the alternate views through your shared thoughts? Who helped me pray? Who helped me keep going for saying there is nothing in here? For saying there is something in here?  WHO? I believe everyone is raising their hands. And now don’t ask me why I love you ha!

4MODIFICATIONS

1. I added a ‘boOK HUNTing‘ page. List of books recommended by other bloggers which interest me. You can make the list longer because you can’t resist recommending that great book that you have read!

2. I removed the ‘imperfect being’ in my tagline. Nope, I am not perfect. I just don’t want to spoonfeed you — I mean, why state the obvious when it’s so obvious that I’m obviously perfectly imperfect? So, I’ll just SPICE UP YOUR WORLD because your posts are the awesome appetizer, main course and dessert! Hmm, altogether we’re a feast, right? BURF! Yes, I like BURF than burp!

3. Can you see what else is trivially new?

4. Anything else? No more? It’s okay, you saw 3 out of 4 and that’s aweSOME!

4MEMORIES

1.I remember my first post ‘Green and Pretty’. Got to preserve the memory of that green shoes which was so loved by my daughter.

2. I remember the 1st one who commented. It’s Charles of Read Between the Minds. I was delighted and shocked at the speed of this blogging thing! Being a first timer in blogging world, I was so lost on my first post. While still tweaking here and there, that endeared comment popped up. To say that I AM grateful and overwhelmed is an understatement!

3. I remember the 1st comment I made  in another blog. It was Theresa’s Moore to Ponder. I was hesitant for fear of misinterpretation but what the heaven, I love the place so I had to say it and I’m glad I did — I love the woman behind!

4. I remember the 1st blog I commented via the comment section of one of my fave site. It was Deb’s Blog. I can’t resist not to appreciate her style. Mini post with maxi enlightenment!

4MUCHOS GRACIAS

What’s a celebration without saying Muchos Gracias? Yes Muchos Gracias (4x) for allowing me a glimpse of how  1) awesome, 2) strong, 3) special and 4) a STAR you are! And if anyone actually want to have the star necklace that I have made please just say anywhere in your comment, “rea, shine on!” and don’t forget to email me the address where I shall send it with love. Send the address not later than November 7 at recreate_save@ymail.com

🙂

Have you noticed how cheesy, corny and usually crazy I am today? That’s actually part of the package of who I am. To complete my cheesiness here’s a song I’m leaving for EVERYBODY. Yes, you have to actually LISTEN to it, PLEAAASE!

STAR, I will see you and reply to you in 3 days time

and while I’m away could you please help me?

Pitch in your idea of  blog name or tagline

I could have used if not bended spoon.

Think of the big women blogs you know because I’m heading there

and I want to take all of you and own it as much as I do.

Afterall, you are the WISDOM part of my tagline!

I know you are the PUN and FUN too

but for heaven’s sake, let me own it that I may have a part too! Okay?

Seriously, I am dreaming! 🙂

I know you subscribed to bended spoon already and

it’s an honor, my pleasure, and a blessing!

Whaaat, you will also tell your friends to subscribe and smile?

Now, my gratitude is up to the moon!

🙂

Thank you so much for celebrating with me

and looking forward for the next celebration!

And oh by the way, there’s something special with 4,

I have 4 kicking kiddos whom I love and adore!

🙂

I will come up with this notsooriginal quotes!

Today I am I, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Ier than I!

Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind need to sharpen their mind.

The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more you know that you have so much to know.

A person’s a person, no matter how lame the excuses.

Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, that’s the exercise of the mind.

So much for that silly quote. Here’s something really awesome that Dr. Seuss will approve of — Cat in the Hat and Grinch nail art!

Cat in the Hat and Grinch nail art

Check the how to’s of this nail art by the lovely lady in Furry Fury Nail Art.

That’s it. Don’t cry because it’s over. Smile because…I said so.

Thank you Dr. Seuss…sneeze!

Mona Lisa’s Smile

10/13/2010

Mona Lisa by Da Vinci

Sorry world

please don’t hate me

but for the life of me

until now I can’t fathom

why Mona Lisa’s smile

is so famous.

Yes I love the painting

but the smile is all like other smiles

they are all special and meaningful.

Tell me, if back then

one of these faces was painted by Leonardo Da Vinci

and it was claimed that the smile is most enigmatic

don’t you think we will not rave about it to the end?

The Smile

To repeat, please don’t hate me

because I admire Leonardo Da Vinci deeply

and Mona Lisa knows I love her

just like the rest of the Wonderful girls.

🙂

Lynda this is my smiling piece

for your Mona Lisa poetry challenge.

Just for the fun of it. Smile!

🙂

Presenting Linda!

Wonder Woman - thanks google!

Not Wonder Woman Lynda Carter but the WONDERFUL Lindas whom I’m honored to meet here in blogosphere!

The Foot Book by Dr. Seuss

Thank you Tisha for making me stop and appreciate. Keep on inspiring with your Biz Mommy!

What makes my heart swell? Here are 3!

1.  Us — my hubby, my kiddos and I, taking turn reading Dr. Seuss book and having a good laugh! “Left foot, right foot, feet, feet, feet. How many feet you meet.”

2.  Whenever one of us cook (hubby, me or 1 of the kiddos) and we all say, “Delicious! Thank you!”

3.  When we show and say how much we value each other. Like the excitement on my kiddos faces each time I come home plus hugs, kisses and I love yous! I thank God sooo much for that!

What’s your 3 things? Please share it in your place or in the comments — got to hear that!

asparagus and mushroom dress by Melissa

Yup that is inspired by my favorite veggies!

I simply requested it from Melissa

and the talented fashion designer was gracious enough

to came up with it here in Pink Spilled Paint!

And for my recipe, here try it.

Ingredients:

2 tbsp olive oil
5 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups 1/2 inch cubed firm tofu
200 grams asparagus, sliced into 1-inch pieces
1 cup sliced shiitake mushroom
3 tbsp oyster sauce mixed with 1/4 cup water

1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Sauté garlic and tofu together until the tofu turns light gold.

2. Add the shiitake mushroom and the oyster sauce mixture. Leave for about 10 minutes.

3. Toss the asparagus with the tofu mushroom. It will take about 4 minutes for the asparagus to cook.

4. Transfer to a serving plate.

BURP!

hmm I think a red bell pepper dress would be lovely.

How about you, what veggie dress do you have in mind right now?

Let’s IMAGINE it altogether!

🙂
