P is for Pareidolia
04/19/2011
PAREIDOLIA is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant.
Yup, they call it pareidolia when I saw God’s face in the clouds.
It is pareidolia when I saw GOD in a pie.
(Not mine. Whoever saw this must be filled-up without eating it)
Some say the truth is: The human brain is hardwired to recognize faces and derive order from chaos.
And the misconception is: Religious nuts sometimes see Mary, Jesus and other supernatural beings in common objects.
Admittedly I am nuts but I doubt if I am religious because I still have so much to learn about God. And if I did learn some more, will it make me religious? But yes, I love God and if seeing Him is being nuts then — I am nuts.
I can actually see God’s smiling face, can’t you?
I can actually see you in your words, can’t you see me?
Here’s to seeing love in your freckles or in your wrinkles or in the mirror!
🙂

04/20/2011 at 11:57 PM

It gave me so much comfort when I saw Him in my grieving moment. Somehow I knew things will be all right.
Photos aren’t mine. Isn’t it fun to seek some of His wonders in the clouds? Blessings 🙂

There is a song out there that I do not remember well but I remember a line from it:
“I’m a nut, I’m a nut, my life don’t ever get in a rut rut rut”.
I like that! 🙂
04/19/2011 at 9:25 AM
Please share the link once you find it Colleen. I, the nut, could try to sing it. eek! Enjoy the day! 🙂
04/19/2011 at 6:13 PM
Haha! Here it is!!!
I challenge you to listen to it and not hear it in your head all day! 🙂
04/19/2011 at 10:15 PM
Harhar! So funny the way he sings it especially on be ba be da di di…part. Thank you Colleen for bringing it here and making me laugh! Naughty naughty nut 🙂
04/19/2011 at 7:58 AM
hmm wonder if that could describe a muse?
04/19/2011 at 9:23 AM
And you made me wonder if we summon a muse or it is always present and just waiting for us to finally see it? Blessings to you 🙂
04/19/2011 at 5:41 AM
My coffeecake looks like Mel Brooks! Is that significant? Or just awesome?!
04/19/2011 at 9:18 AM
The significance of things, events, and even one’s self depends on how the person perceive and puts meaning into it. Is your intelligence significant to me?
Now to coffeecake ala Mel Brooks, did you eat it? yay! lol. It could be significant if you perceive it as sign to loosen up and not be so rigid that you could break. Or it is simply awesome because why the need to be in your coffeecake when you are already laughing at his jokes? lol
You are significantly awesome and special! The Creator made sure of that! Blessings to you 🙂

I love your post and your reply to Theresa. 🙂 It’s not about us making others see Him, but seeing Him ourselves and rejoicing. Thank you so much for letting me see God here and in you!
04/19/2011 at 9:06 AM
And thank you so much Deb for heightening the experience of seeing Him! Now why am I a cry baby again? I am sometimes like this when I want to share the beautiful feelings which I know is impossible unless welcomed. Love you Deb 🙂

A recent episode on Glee featured the “God on Toast” theme..Whether we parody or accept..it’s all within!!Love the new word..
04/19/2011 at 8:59 AM
I agree with you Lyn. We all have different take on things and the best part is not who is right but who can respect the other.
Huggs and blessings to you 🙂
04/19/2011 at 2:25 AM
Fun and touching. I’ve got the big dipper in the aging spots on my left hand!!! And I’m always seeing things in the clouds. Nuts is okay.
04/19/2011 at 8:51 AM
Wow that is cool! For a start, the one who sees things are actually looking — how can one see things in the clouds if the person isn’t looking up? lol
You blessed me today, thank you. Being nuts is actually a choice to take the shell off 🙂
04/19/2011 at 2:07 AM
Sometimes it’s hard to see the good in everything. In those moments you find just how strong of a person you are. Of course, sometimes the greatest strength comes in asking others for help. Great P post! It’s a pleasure to meet you via the A-Z Challenge!
04/19/2011 at 8:40 AM
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts. Yup it’s really hard sometimes to see the good in everything especially if we only use our own set of ‘eyes’ to see. Our eyes might see problem in possibilities when in reality it is only possibilities.
The greatest strength is knowing that we can never be strong on our own, alone. Thank you for helping me with that. Blessings to you!
🙂
04/19/2011 at 1:34 AM
Bendedspoon, some people see good in everything. These people are rare – you are one of them 🙂
Here’s the ‘science’ if you can call it that
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulacra_and_Simulation
Incidently, this looks like a great challenge! Doubt I could do it, was bad enough when I adopted a word and had to slip it into every post and coversation 😀
04/19/2011 at 8:28 AM
Thank you so much Lynda for sharing the link. I appreciate science so much being an intellectual activity/capacity of humans to TRY to understand the world. Worldly truth is only as real as our capacity to discover and understand.
Our truth is that there are 9 planets in the solar system — until another planet is discovered. Our truth is the earth is flat — until it is ‘proven’ to be round and then the latest ‘truth’ is earth is actually a bumpy spheroid. What could be the next ‘truth’?
The truth is you do not even discredit what I am saying (could be) and yet I have said so much! lol.
Now back to Simulcra and Simulation — I agree that a representation is an image without the substance or qualities of the original. Definitely! Nothing beats the real thing — and I am not even talking about having the real thing besides me but how it comes to life in my life.
Hugggs and blessings to you Lynda! 🙂

Fascinating post!
04/19/2011 at 7:39 AM
Awesome God bless you! 🙂
04/19/2011 at 12:03 AM
I pray that I get nuttier everyday! I loved this post. I also love my nutty friends. 🙂
04/19/2011 at 12:34 AM
Thank you so much Theresa for loving your nutty friends! I understand the skeptics because they don’t see it themselves. It could be me if I hadn’t seen it myself. Still, it’s not much about convincing others but my awe for God.
Love and huggs to you 🙂
